I'm Working for You!

Elect Leslie Bloss for State House Rep, 36th District

The two children in the picture above are my grandchildren.  I loved being a mom and I love even more being a grandmother.   I have been a widow for six years and, therefore, no family picture.  In case you are confused by my campaign address being Bellevue, it is because my Campaign Manager/Treasurer lives there.  I tried to get a P.O. Box at the Ballard post office and one was not available--I needed to act quickly because I was turning in forms and getting walk pieces printed.

Well I didn't make it past the Primary but I did have a great time campaigning.  I love meeting people and hearing their stories and I still want to be in a position to help with their concerns.  I will now spend time focusing on my real estate career and decide what to do next regarding my political activism.  Thank you all for your interest and support.

My name is Leslie Bloss and I am a candidate for State House Representative in the 36th Legislative District, Position #1.  It is made up of Ballard, Belltown, a portion of Fremont, Greenwood, Magnolia, Phinney Ridge and Queen Anne--a very diverse group.

Fiscal responsibility is a given for good government.  The previous occupant of this seat was a strong believer of fiscal responsibility and I am carrying on that tradition.  We need to bring balance into Olympia with honesty, fairness and ethics.  I want to eliminate congestion, SAVE THE VIADUCTfix our spending problems, and improve our schools.

A little about my background--I am a widow and very importantly, I am a very proud grandmother--that is why Washington's future is so important to me.  I am a graduate of Seattle schools and have lived in this area for over 50 years.  I have had over 30 years experience in the business world and have been successful in several careers.  I feel I meet the qualifications for the job of State House Representative.  In addition, I excel at listening to people and know how to ask the right questions to understand the issues.  You will not find someone more committed to doing "the right thing" for its citizens.  You will not find anyone more ready to work across party lines to get things accomplished.

I worked at The Boeing Company for 23 years working in Facilities, Long Range Planning and Human Resources--and during this time I finished my Business Administration Degree.  I am now a REALTOR®.

I have also done a great deal of volunteer work.  I have been a Seattle Crisis Line Worker; a King County Rape Relief Advocate; a reading helper at the John Stanford International Elementary School; and a Puget Sound Blood Donor Intake Person (I have given gallons of blood, lots of platelets and if I am a match for a bone marrow recipient I will do that also).  I am currently in a leadership position with the Wallingford Senior Center.   All of that work shows that I care for individuals in all walks of life and situations.  From this work I have learned to really listen--one of the most important traits a Legislator needs.

For the last year I have been working on getting "Katie's Law" (katieslaw.org) into Washington State--a very lofty goal.  This is to get felons found and off the street quicker and also to clear the innocent.  In that effort I have spoken to many State Senators and Representatives; completed a lot of research and blogged a lot about the issue.  So much so, that the Federation of Republican Women in Washington State has made it a priority to get Katie's Law passed and they are going to form a committee--I will probably be leading that charge.

People have a very bad opinion of politicians and they want the bickering to stop and to see things get accomplished.  We need common sense and fairness and a Legislature that has balance.  We need a Legislator that thinks government should be “for” and “by” the people and for the "greater good" not for the "special few."  I am someone that is honest, and a “straight talker” that wants to win this campaign to make Washington better for its people and their future.  I am tired of our opinions being ignored and it is time for us to take a stand.

Washington State has a “Citizen’s Legislature” which means that we do not have a “full time” Legislature.  The State did this to encourage people of all walks of life to serve and develop public policy—in other words—no professional politicians.  Therefore, everybody’s background is considered “good to go” in order to serve the Legislature.  This is a "good" thing!  We need a Legislature with diversity of opinion that will work together and get things accomplished!

So if you want someone that represents you that is fiscally responsible, wants to save an elevated VIADUCT and not have a State Income Tax consider voting for me and please spread the word!

Thank you,

Leslie Bloss
